Van Mannekus and Co. B.V (www.mannekus.com) is jointly owned (50-50) by the French company Roullier Group and Grecian Magnesite S.A. Van Mannekus was founded in 1904 in Rotterdam and developed into a leading player in the processing and trading of magnesium compounds and emery.
The company is located in Schiedam, next to the Wilhelmina harbor, part of the Rotterdam harbor-complex. With its own quay and crane infrastructure directly at the riverside, where both ocean-going vessels and river boats can be loaded and unloaded. The premises of the company cover 25.000 m2 and consist of the 3 milling installations with a maximum capacity of ca. 50.000 tpa, storage (covered) capacity of 15.000mt, mixing and screening installations, automated packing lines, various silos for semi-finished and finished products, a fully equipped in-house laboratory and the company’s headquarters.

Van Mannekus produces and distributes a wide range of high quality customized magnesium oxide products from a variety of sources (i.e. China, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Brazil etc) as well as magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide and other magnesium chemicals for a big variety of applications in industrial/chemical, construction, environmental and agricultural markets. Van Mannekus & Co is also the producer of Mandurax® and Mankey® (for high performance anti-skid applications and abrasives) and GeoCrete® (an innovative cement additive for soil stabilization).

Total sales volumes of Magnesium Compounds are in the range of 65.000 tpa plus another 15.000 tpa from service handling of other minerals.
The company is ISO 9001:2000 certified and also holds the GMP certification as a supplier to the animal feed industry.

Van Mannekus is also a distributor for Ecopiren, a range of micronised Magnesium Hydroxides of natural origin (brucite) produced by Russian Mining Chemical Company. Ecopiren is especially suitable as flame retardant in thermoplastic and elastomer polymer compounds, and can also be used as a functional filler in paints and resins.
