KERMA®

KERMA®│ Super White Magnesite for Ceramics

The name of this brand of ours comes from Ker (-amic, the Greek for ceramic) and Ma (-gnesia), obviously, but it also means coin (in Greek: κέρμα) to signify its best value for money it offers to the ceramic industry. Think of it as the best super-white engobe, or as the topnotch material for magnesium rich frits and glazes, as well as for the most durable and good-looking ceramics!

Main Uses & Advantages

KERMA® is produced from specially selected natural magnesium carbonate deposits, processed at our state-of-the-art beneficiation facilities. The main advantages are, its chemical purity, low iron content, low trace elements & accurate particle size, ensuring, topnotch performance in ceramic applications, by improving both the manufacturing process and the end-product’s quality.

KERMA® was successfully introduced into the high-standard Italian tile industry in the early 90’s. Ever since, our sales expanded to other countries with substantial ceramic tile production. Today, Grecian Magnesite is a major supplier of this sector worldwide.

KERMA® is used as a panel engobe ingredient to impart refractoriness and prevent the tiles from sticking on the kiln rollers at high temperatures.

Another important outlet of KERMA® is as a flux in the ceramic batch formula to improve mechanical properties, decrease water absorption and required firing peak temperature.

KERMA® is also used as rich Mg source, for the production of high-quality frits and glazes.
