a leather tanning story
In Brazil, Italy, the USA and other leather producing countries around the globe, the use of dead burned magnesite as a collagen stabilizing agent has been well known for almost two centuries. There are very few suitable MgO-based products worldwide that avoid stains and secure longevity of the valuable leather. Enter TANMA!
The product we developed revolutionizes leather tanning and is growing in market share by the day - all over the world! The science is simple: perfect pH calibration, no residual effects!
To counter biodegradation of the collagen fibres in animal hide, producers prepare an acid bath for the pelts. The pH is then slowly raised for the chrome to react and stabilise the collagen. The process needs controlled reactivity, special microstructure and grain size, low lime content and an extremely low iron presence to avoid irregularities in the end-product.
Our hard-burned MgO grade offers just those attributes at a cost-effective price. No wonder TANMA Powder is being shipped to 20 countries as you read these lines.
