The new year marks a new chapter for our organization.
As of January 1, 2024, we welcome Pavlos Vayionas as the new General Manager of Yerakini Mines & Works. Mr. Vayionas has replaced Dimitris Tsakonitis, our esteemed former General Manager, who is gracefully stepping into retirement after 15 years at the helm. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Tsakonitis for his unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and invaluable contributions during his commendable 37-year tenure at Grecian Magnesite from various key positions. Mr. Tsakonitis will continue his active enrollment in Grecian Magnesite as a Senior Management Consultant.
An experienced mechanical engineer with a strategic vision and proven leadership capabilities, Pavlos Vayionas has been with our company since 1993. Until his appointment as our new General Manager of Yerakini Mines & Works, he has held key positions in various departments, including Deputy General Manager for the last 5 years. Also, he is a member of the Board of Directors at both Grecian Magnesite and Akdeniz Mineral Kaynaklari.
Throughout his journey in Grecian Magnesite, Mr. Vayionas has showcased a remarkable skillset, a visionary outlook, professionalism, open-mindedness, and a team-oriented approach.
We are confident Mr. Vayionas will excel in his new position, largely contribute to our strategic goals on growth & sustainability and drive Grecian Magnesite to even greater heights!
A short bio of Pavlos Vayionas
Pavlos Vayionas holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Machine Design from Cranfield University (courtesy of a Bodossaki Foundation scholarship), and an MBA from the Hellenic Management Association (EEDE).
Since joining Grecian Magnesite in 1993, he has held various roles, including 4 years in the Development Department, 8 years in Process Development and New Projects Management, 5 years as Pre-beneficiation Department Manager, 8 years as Maintenance Manager, and 5 years as Deputy General Manager of Yerakini Mines & Works.
During his journey in Grecian Magnesite, he worked on the design and implementation of new process installations both at Yerakini Mines and abroad, also in the maintenance and improvement of current assets, due-diligence projects, and consulting services for the magnesia business.
He was born and lives in Polygyros, Chalkidiki. He is married and has 3 children.
