Mineral wool
Mineral wool consists of fibers containing various combinations of silicon oxide, alkali oxides and alkaline earth oxides typically produced by co-melting mineral raw materials and spinning the melt into a fiber structure. MgO is an essential component of the wool, especially in high temperature mineral wools for thermal insulation, sound insulation and fire-resistant applications. Suitable magnesium bearing raw materials are magnesium carbonate and magnesium oxide with consistent chemical composition and controlled grain size.
