GRECMAGN® TUN DRY
Grecian Magnesite offers a wide range of magnesia-based tundish dry vibrated masses under the brand name GRECMAGN® TUN DRY.
Main Uses & Advantages
GRECMAGN® TUN DRY series of products can be easily applied, without water addition and cured within a short time at temperatures that do not exceed 350oC. Compare to the spray mass, the laboring and energy cost is lower. Furthermore, a working lining of the same thickness exhibits similar or even higher wear resistance and easier deskulling after use.
The installation takes place using a steel template with thickness of 10mm. After ramming the dry mass on the bottom of the tundish, the template is lifted into the tundish. The gap between the template and the permanent lining determines the thickness of the working lining. The gap is filled with the dry mass and is tamped using manual rammers or a vibrating template. The dry mass exhibits excellent flow with minimum dust formation during application. Careful ramming in parallel layers is required, so that the working lining has maximum strength after curing. After ramming the template should be heated up to 320oC and remain at that temperature for two hours, for the temperature of the working lining to exceed 180oC for the bonding system to be activated. The template can be removed after it is cooled down to room temperature.
Our refractories engineering team can provide a wide range of support; from simple consultation to on-site installation services. We are committed to supplying our customers with experienced, knowledgeable personnel to assist and improve the operations of the tundish area.

Continuous casting
In Continuous Casting Machines, the tundish is the intermediate reservoir between the ladle and the water-cooled copper molds that receives the liquid steel from the ladle and subdivides it into strands of solidified steel. The tundish working lining should ensure the steel cleanliness, keep steel casting temperature steady and protect the safety lining from premature wear.
