Continuous casting

In Continuous Casting Machines, the tundish is the intermediate reservoir between the ladle and the water-cooled copper molds that receives the liquid steel from the ladle and subdivides it into strands of solidified steel. The tundish working lining should ensure the steel cleanliness, keep steel casting temperature steady and protect the safety lining from premature wear.

There are three different types of products for the tundish working lining, depending on each plant’s operational parameters and desired properties of the produced steel.

1. Spray mass (wet) with the GRECMAGN TUN series of products. It is the simplest and most popular method for the installation of the tundish working lining.
2. Hot setting dry vibrated mass with the GRECMAGN TUN DRY series of products. The use of dry vibrated masses is preferred, when hydrogen pickup by the steel should be eliminated, when energy consumption should be reduced and when the tundish availability should be increased.
3. Cold setting dry vibrated mass with the GRECMAGN TUN CS series of products. Use of this kind of mass is preferred when energy consumption should be further decreased.

Utilization of our own dead burned magnesia and dunite grades as raw materials, along with the capability of our mixing plant to produce in small batches, gives us the flexibility to meet almost any customer’s requirements in terms of physical and chemical properties of the final products.
