Ceramic Tiles
Magnesium Carbonate (or Raw Magnesite) is used as a flux in the ceramic batch formula to improve mechanical properties, decrease water absorption and the required firing peak temperature.
Another important outlet of Magnesium Carbonate is as a panel engobe ingredient to impart refractoriness and prevent the tiles from sticking on the kiln rollers at high temperatures. Finally, Magnesium Carbonate is used as a glaze ingredient.
Grecian Magnesite’s Magnesium Carbonate grades were successfully introduced in the high-standard Italian tile industry in the early 90’s. Ever since, our sales expanded to other countries with substantial ceramic tile production. Today, Grecian Magnesite is a major supplier of this sector worldwide.
KERMA
The name of this brand of ours comes from Ker (-amic, the Greek for ceramic) and Ma (-gnesia), obviously, but it also means coin (in Greek: κέρμα) to signify its best value for money it offers to the ceramic industry. Think of it as the best super-white engobe, or as the topnotch material for magnesium rich frits and glazes, as well as for the most durable and good-looking ceramics!
